Handwritten math answers on paper, step by step
ymwrite (云猫快写) takes a page of math questions, has the AI draft the answers step by step, and writes them out in handwriting: in a ready-made style made from real people's handwriting, or in your own. Fractions, matrices and integrals are laid out the way people write them on paper, instead of being squeezed into one line of text.
The workspace is in Chinese, but you can talk to the AI in English, and the page can be written entirely in English. This guide follows one page from start to finish. The table at the end lists what the main Chinese labels mean.
What you need
- The questions: a photo, a scan, a PDF or an image. You can also type them into the chat.
- A browser on a computer or a phone. There is nothing to install.
- You don't need a paid plan. Everything here works on a free account, except the photo look in step 7, which is part of YunMao Pro.
1. Open the workspace
Choose Start free, on ymwrite.com/en or at the end of this guide. The workspace opens in your browser. On a computer, the chat is on the left and the paper on the right.
You can start before you sign in. To keep your work, sign in with your email address (you receive a six-digit code or a sign-in link) or with your Google account.
2. Upload the questions and say what you want
The message box at the bottom of the chat reads 说点什么,或点 + 传文件 (“say something, or tap + to add a file”). Click + and choose your photo or file. Then write what you want, in English. The more specific you are, the closer the first draft will be. For example:
Write the answers to both questions in English on one answer sheet. Show each step and end each question with the final answer.
Press 发送 (Send). You can ask for less in the same way: only the final answers, say, or a shorter version of one question.
3. Watch it read, draft and write
The chat shows the steps on one line, for example 读题 · … · 新建答题纸 · 书写 (reading the page, drafting the answers, new answer sheet, writing). A ✓ at the start means they are all done; click the line to see each step. On the right, the answer sheet appears and is written line by line.
Above the paper there is a tab for each page, such as your upload and 答题纸 1 (Answer sheet 1). At the top right, three views change what you see: 原卷 is the page before anything is written on it (for a phone photo this view is called 拉平, flattened, or 原图, the photo as it came), 已写 is the written page, and 成品 is the finished page (see step 7).

4. Check every line
The AI can make mistakes, in the steps as much as in the wording. Read the written page against the questions before you use it. If a step is wrong or too short, say so in the chat:
In question 2, check the answer in both equations.
That answer is then written again.
Use ymwrite only where AI help is allowed. If your school or employer does not allow AI help, do not hand in what it writes as your own work. The usage rules are in the acceptable use policy (in Chinese).
5. Change the handwriting, the math style or the pen
The bar under the page shows the current settings. Click one to change it:
- 中文: the handwriting for Chinese text; on an answer sheet it also writes the words between the formulas
- 数学: how math symbols are written
- 英文: the handwriting for English text on a page of notes, a letter or an essay; each ready-made style is made from real people's handwriting
- 笔: the pen and its color
中文, 数学 and 英文 open the same dialog, 字体 (Handwriting): pick a style and press 用这些 (Use these). 笔 opens its own list of pens. If some pages are already written, a note asks whether to write them again with the new settings: 重新书写 (Write again) or 先不 (Not now). You can also just ask in the chat, for example “use a neater English style” or “write it in blue pen.”
Once you have uploaded your own handwriting, it is listed in the same dialog. See Use your own handwriting.
6. Fix single characters and lines
On the written page, click a character to select it, or select a word or a whole title. You can drag the selection to move it, or resize it, and a small panel offers:
- 换写法 (Another variant): another writing of the same character; if the style has only one, it is reshaped instead
- 换个形状 (Reshape): the same writing, shaped and placed a little differently
- 删掉 (Delete)
- 改这道题 (Edit this question) in a math answer, or 改这一行 (Edit this line) in text: change the words, and only that question or line is written again
撤销 (Undo) and 重做 (Redo) at the top right step back and forward through every change. How a style varies each character is explained in Real handwriting vs handwriting fonts.
7. Choose the finish and download
The first time pages are written, the AI asks how they should look (in English if you have been writing to it in English) and offers three choices, usually with a small preview of each. The choices may be in Chinese:
- 保持电子版: keep the page as written, a clean digital page
- 扫描件效果: the look of a scanned page
- 手机拍照效果: the photo look, part of YunMao Pro (see pricing, in Chinese)
It asks only once; to change the finish later, click 成品 in the bar under the page. Then press 下载 (Download) at the top right and save the pages as images or a PDF.
